Come prepared, and the whole setup
is one sitting.
This is the exact list of everything the setup asks for β nothing more. Owners who gather it first typically finish the walkthrough in well under an hour, at their own pace, in their own time. Nothing on this list is a trick; most of it is already in your head or your phone.
π’ Your business β 5 minutes
β 5 min- βBusiness details. Trading name, trade, address, phone, email β and your Companies House number if you have one (we check it against the public register while you type).
- βOne sentence on why customers pick you. Your βwhy usβ β it seeds your website copy. Twenty words is plenty.
- βOpening hours + regular days off. So bookings only ever land when you can actually take them.
π Your proof β have the documents to hand
β 1 min per document- βTrade credentials. Gas Safe, NICEIC, insurance certificate β whatever your trade carries. A clear, flat, well-lit photo or scan of each. Blurry photos are the #1 thing that slows owners down: they need a retake.
- βNothing to fabricate, nothing to type. We read the certificate for you (holder, number, issuer, expiry). You just confirm itβs genuine with a signed declaration β more on how verification protects you on the next page.
π³ Getting paid β the step to not rush
β 3 min + Stripeβs own checks- βUK bank sort code + account number. Where your customersβ money lands. It goes to YOUR account β never through ours.
- βPhoto ID (passport or driving licence). Stripe verifies your identity by law before you can take payments. Having your ID next to you turns the slowest step into a three-minute one.
- βCompany registration number, if limited. Sole traders and partnerships: your name and details are enough.
π οΈ What you sell + who does the work
β 5 min- βYour services with rough prices. Name + price is enough to start (duration and description help). You need at least one; you can refine forever after.
- βYour team. Each workerβs name and what they cover. At least one active worker (you count). Invites to the rest can go out any time.
π Your website β mostly done for you
β 6 min- βYour town + areas you cover. The generator writes a full professional site from what youβve already entered β you pick the look, colours and pages.
- βA logo if you have one. Optional. A clean site without a logo beats a delay waiting for one.
- βOne test booking. You book yourself in as a customer β so youβve SEEN it work before any real customer does.
Already running on spreadsheets or another system? You're the fastest of all.
If your customers, services or certificates already live in Jobber, ServiceM8, Tradify, Commusoft, Housecall Pro, Fergus or any spreadsheet, export them as a CSV and bring the files with you. Once your account exists, the importer reads your columns (whatever they're called), you match them up on screen, and your customer list, price list and qualifications land in minutes instead of being retyped.
- β Customers β a CSV with at least an email column (names, phone, postcode if you have them).
- β Services / price list β a CSV with a name and a price column.
- β Qualifications β a list of your team's certs (Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, ECSβ¦).
Duplicates are skipped automatically and anything that can't import comes back to you as a tidy error file β nothing silently disappears.
The three things that genuinely slow owners down
- 1. Blurry certificate photos. Flat, well-lit, all four corners in frame β one good photo beats three retakes.
- 2. Not having photo ID for the payment step. Stripe must verify who you are by law. ID on the desk = three minutes; hunting for a passport = your longest step.
- 3. Overthinking the website words. The generator drafts them from your details β publish good, refine later. Your site is editable forever.
Gathered? Then you're nearly done already.
